Just started using this team (below) last night and for the most part it's been doing well but wondering if anyone had any suggestions to improve it?
Volcarona (F) @ Firium Z
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 50
EVs: 236 HP / 192 Def / 20 SpA / 60 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Heat Wave
- Giga Drain
- Protect
Volc puts in the work and after an intimidate from manetric he can survive rock slides from fully invested T-tar and lando if he has to. Maybe a little on the slow side but after a quiver dance all is good
Milotic (F) @ Wiki Berry
Ability: Competitive
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 92 Def / 4 SpA / 68 SpD / 92 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Icy Wind
- Toxic
- Recover
I personally love this bulky build but it does rely on getting the competitive boost of to score real damage. Toxic is there for dirty stall tactics. This slot was previously filled by calm mind tapu fini but I feel competive milotic is more useful in this intimate filled meta
Manectric-Mega (M) @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
Level: 50
EVs: 172 HP / 4 Def / 4 SpA / 76 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Eerie Impulse
- Flamethrower
- Protect
Based off moxie Boosted honchknow team with eerie impulse taking the place of snarl. I have played around with a few moves in the flamethrower slot, such as HP ice, overheat (wasn't a huge fan as the -2 SpA drop kind of sucks if he ends up being the last 'mon on the field)
Aegislash (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Flash Cannon
- Wide Guard
- King's Shield
Nothing too complex here, wide guard to protect against EQ/rock slide. Weakness policy is always fun
Togekiss (F) @ Mago Berry
Ability: Serene Grace
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 220 HP / 196 Def / 4 SpA / 84 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Follow Me
- Tailwind
- Protect
Not so sure about togekiss move pool, used to love para-flinch kiss but mainly been using this one to use follow me while set up quiver dances and tailwind. I think working in Dazzling gleam somewhere could help my Kommo-o match up but unsure what move to drop
Kartana @ Assault Vest
Ability: Beast Boost
Level: 50
EVs: 180 HP / 68 Atk / 12 Def / 204 SpD / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Leaf Blade
- Smart Strike
- Sacred Sword
- Knock Off
Actually been the MVP of the the team so far, surprising how much this dude can survive with bulky AV build, can be a little reliant on getting the beast boost off but sacred sword has helped my sand match up and knock off/smart strike has helped my psychic spam match up a lot as I was struggling with using bulu in this slot with sub, bulk up, horn leech and superpower although bulu's grassy terrain does help aegislash, volcarona and manetric ground weakness
Well yeah, I probably should've mentioned Protect before lol. Leaf Blade, Tailwind and Protect are pretty much compulsory for Sash Kartana. It's really up to you whether or not you want to use Smart Strike or Sacred Sword in the 4th moveslot.
Smart Strike hits all of the Tapus for at least neutral damage, which is helpful in the sense that nearly every team at the moment uses at least one Tapu. However, Sacred Sword hits Incineroar and Tyranitar (arguably the best Intimidator and Weather-setter in VGC respectively) for at least 2x damage.
Up to you, but personally I'd use Smart Strike. Sacred Sword on Kartana seems kinda pointless in a metagame so heavily dominated by Fairy-, Flying- and Psychic-types.
I like your thinking buddy implemented that change kartana is now jolly focus sash with full speed and attack investment, choose protect over smart strike though
I mentioned this in my Hydreigon+Aegislash post, and I'm gonna mention it again; Protecting Aegislash from EQ seems counterproductive if it's holding a Weakness Policy. Still, it's helpful for protecting Mega Manectric from EQ, Volcarona from Rock Slide, and Kartana from Heat Wave, so for that reason it's definitely worth using Wide Guard.
Regarding Togekiss, you say you've "mainly been using this one to use follow me while set up quiver dances and tailwind", yet you don't have an ally that can set up Tailwind in the same turn that Togekiss uses Follow Me. For that reason, I would change Kartana to a Focus Sash set with Leaf Blade, Smart Strike, Sacred Sword and Tailwind, while replacing Togekiss' Tailwind with Dazzling Gleam.
